And once again Bhardwaj had spelt magic.
As the name has it, the story revolved around a blue-coloured umbrella. An eleven-year-old Biniya, who lives in a small village tucked away in the mountains, doesn't have too many things to delight her self. And one fine day when she discovers the blue umbrella, she is completely zapped. She had never before seen something so vibrant and beautiful.
It becomes a priceless possession. Something she would not let her eyes off.
But what Biniya doesn't know is that even Nandkishor is smitten by its beauty and can do anything to lay his hands on it.
Nandkishor or Nandu is the proud-owner of a tea-stall. Lazy and easy-going, he keeps lying on his charpoy and dreams of making it big one day.
But Nandu is not the only one to covet the umbrella. Its presence disturbs the harmony of the entire village.
And as destiny would have it, the prized-possession goes missing.
But Biniya is determined to get it back and thus begins the journey. She sets up her own investigation team and what unfurls is all too surprising. The film is narrated in a very interesting style and the story spills out gradually. The slow pace highlights human emotions, thus displaying his excellent craftsmanship yet again.Yes, it is an adaptation of Ruskin Bond's short story but remember, it is no joke to bring to life these characters.
Bhardwaj not just manages it superbly but uses the metaphorical tale to question man's pursuit for power and dominance and raises questions about materialistic pleasure and its futility.
All this may sound a bit philosophical and heavily-loaded and seem out of place for a children's film, but when the scenes unfold and story moves ahead, these unsaid thoughts open in the most innocent and unadulterated manner.
Afterall Bharadwaj has a knack for making children's films. To enhance the director's effort, cinematographer Sachin K Krishn plays a very important role. The beauty with which he captures the moments gives out a gripping fragrance.Pankaj Kapur's performance is, as usual, wonderful. The actor has once again proven that he can portray any character with an equal amount of zeal and precision. His slapdash look and enjoyable accent adds a boost to the film.
After Shweta Prasad, Shreya Sharma is yet another remarkable discovery of Bhardwaj. The incorruptibility of Biniya is depicted so convincingly by Shreya, that not even once do you feel she's just a beginner.
Blue Umbrella may be a children's film but has lots of lessons for everyone.
It may not cater to the audiences from every school of thought and may not have a raging effect at the box-office, but it's indeed a venture which can be cherished.

Says Hrithik, “Shah Rukh, whose association with my dad goes back to King Uncle and Koila , is the portrait of graciousness. He’s shooting for my dad’s film in Mumbai. When my knee is recovered, I’ll be performing the same song.”
Shah Rukh’s version will be part of the film whereas Hrithik’s will be used only for promotional purposes. “While I’m doing this for my home production, Shah Rukh is going out of his way for us. It just shows how much solidarity actually exists in the industry,” adds Hrithik.
Shah Rukh and Hrithik dancing to the same tune would give rise to comparisons between the two superstars. Hrithik thinks such comparisons can be avoided. “We’ll bring our own body language and style into it. Besides, Shah Rukh doesn’t need to dance, I do,” says the actor in handsome tribute to the Bollywood Badshah.
This, incidentally, is Hrithik’s first item song and Shah Rukh’s second; he had earlier performed for buddy Karan Johar’s Kaal. According to Hrithik, the song composed by his uncle Rajesh Roshan and sung by Vishal (of Vishal-Shekhar) is an amazing dance track. It is choreographed by Ahmed Khan. “I’m sure Shah Rukh and I are going to have fun performing this number,” says Hrithik.
krazzy 4 movie - arshad warsi in
This one will be directed by one of Roshan’s assistants. This is the first film that Rakesh is not directing ever since he took up direction with Kaho Naa Pyar Hai (2007).
Says Roshan,“Raja Sen, who assisted me in Kaho Naa…, Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish, will be directing it. Raja is a very good and capable director.
I will also be involved as a producer in each and every department of the film. Ashwini Dheer (Office Office) is the screenplay and dialogue writer of Krazzy 4.”
Rakesh Roshan wants to build up his production house and experiment with different films; on the lines of Subhash Ghai’s Mukta Arts and Yash Raj Films.
He explains his move, “We have to expand as a production house. New and exciting projects are coming up and audience tastes are changing.
I am excited about Krazzy 4. It’s very different from what my banner usually produces.
It’s an out and out comedy with a social message and is a wholesome commercial entertainer, which will appeal to every section of society.
Krazzy 4 is based around all the four characters played by Arshad Warsi, Irrfan Khan, Suresh Menon and Rajpal Yadav who form the crazy foursome.
Dia Mirza, Juhi Chawla and Rajat Kapoor form very important and pivotal elements of the rest of the cast. I have very good actors in the film.”
The film is based on an idea which Roshan Sr had eight years ago, “I wanted to make it but didn’t find the right time to make the film. I have always had a flair for comedies.
Earlier I had produced Kaamchor which was a comedy. After giving three hits together (Kaho Naa…, Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish), this is the first film that he and Hrithik won’t be working together in.
“Hrithik is has other date commitments and I was sitting idle, so I thought why not go ahead and make the film for our banner, minus Hrithik.
I will start my film with Hrithik after Krazzy 4 is complete. But yes, Hrithik is very much involved with Krazzy 4 too.”
